For its many facets, Rio de Janeiro is the focus of the tourism industry in Latin America. The fact that the city is situated between a tropical rainforest and beaches, makes a variety of products can be offered in a single tourist destination. Rio is a city of contrasts: the colonial architecture reminiscent of the past, while striking modern buildings provide a glimpse of the future. Two landmarks, true postcard images, are known the world over: the Sugar Loaf and the statue of Christ the Redeemer. As a tourist destination, Rio does not depend on the seasons, since the climate is temperate all year round and its attractions can be enjoyed at virtually any time of year. Visitors soon discover a fact known of the city's inhabitants and of which they are proud: something is always happening in Rio - exhibitions, dance and music shows, sporting events.

CITY TOUR WITH SUGAR LOAF TO VISIT

This tour begins with a panoramic view of the city through the center of Rio, through the Sambadrome, the Metropolitan Cathedral, pyramid-shaped, with an internal diameter of 96 meters and height of 80 meters. Experience the traditional Cinelândia square with the historical buildings, the Municipal Theater, the National Library and the National Museum of Fine Arts. By taking the Flamengo, you will be taken to the Urca neighborhood where it is located one of the largest symbols of the city: the Sugar Loaf. This visit is done in two steps by cable car. The first cable car takes passengers to Urca Hill with 215 meters and swim can have a beautiful view of Guanabara Bay and its islands, the bridge Rio x Niterói and Corcovado hill. From that moment, a second car will be carried out to the top with 395 meters to find a splendid view from Copacabana beach, the fortress of Santa Cruz and some Niterói beaches.

 

FOREST TIJUCA & CORCOVADO

From anywhere in the city, the visitor can see the most beautiful postcard of Rio de Janeiro: The statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain, located 710 meters above sea level and inaugurated in 1931. This tour begins in Cosme Velho neighborhood, where the train runs through the Tijuca forest, the largest urban forest in the world, to the statue. A panoramic and extraordinary view of Rio,

including the Sugar Loaf, the Guanabara Bay, the beaches of Southern Zone and the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon. After the visit the Corcovado, the tour continues to São Conrado, with a brief stop at the Pepino beach from where you can enjoy the gliding flight.

 

TOUR HISTORY

This is a tour that gives visitors a feeling for the legends and stories woven out around the narrow, ancient streets historic buildings of downtown Rio. The walk includes a visit by several interesting points, such as the São Bento Monastery, Candelaria Square XV, the "Market Lane", Imperial Palace, the cultural center located in the Bank of Brazil, the France-Brazil and the traditional Confeitaria Colombo. The walk continues to Uruguaiana Street, Carioca Square to the Metropolitan Cathedral where passengers will find transportation please take them back to their hotels.

 

TOUR GUANABARA BAY

On January 1, 1502, a Portuguese squad, commanded by Andre Gonçalves, discovered the Guanabara Bay and, judging to be a great river, and how the tour came in January, he gave the name of Rio de Janeiro.
